Recycled polyester: why we use it for our covers

A dog bed cover needs to withstand claws, wet fur, regular washing and years of use. Recycled polyester is the material that offers the best balance across all these demands.

Durability Densely woven polyester is highly resistant to abrasion. Unlike cotton, it does not lose its shape in the wash or fade in the sun.

Water-resistant finish The surface treatment allows liquids to sit on the fabric initially, so they can be wiped away. It is not a waterproof membrane — its effectiveness decreases with repeated washing, so the cover should not be treated as a barrier against urine. For puppies and senior dogs, we recommend a separate waterproof liner.

Environmental impact The material is made from PET bottles, reducing the use of virgin raw materials and energy compared with conventional polyester. It is not a perfect solution, but it is measurably better than using new fibres.

How to care for it Wash separately at 30 °C without fabric softener, as this damages the water-resistant finish. Do not tumble dry or iron. Only put the cover back on once it is completely dry.
